Health, safety & environment
Share the site conditions and requirements that could affect how drilling work is planned.
Before mobilisation
Make constraints visible early.
Include site-specific hazards, permit requirements and emergency arrangements in your project brief. For work on or near water, include vessel access and any limits related to weather or tides.
- Health
- Consider heat exposure, noise, manual handling, first-aid arrangements and access to emergency care. For a remote site, identify the nearest clinic and how emergency transport can reach the work area.
- Safety
- Identify overhead and underground utilities, vehicle movements, exclusion zones and who controls access to the work area. For a shared access road, note any times when site vehicles or pedestrians cross the proposed rig route.
- Environment
- Flag nearby waterways, sensitive habitats, restrictions on working hours and how drilling fluids, cuttings and waste will be managed. For a borehole near a creek, flag the proposed work area and where drilling returns can be contained.
